Liberty Lawn Maintenance is proud to serve the municipality of Delta, BC, Canada.
South of the city of Richmond, Delta is bordered by Surrey to the East, the United States to the South, and of course the mighty Fraser River to the North.
The city is actually made up of 3 areas:
- North Delta
It was the Tsawwassen aboriginal people who first lived in the area. In the year 1791 Europeans sighted Delta and thought it was just an island.
As a result, it was named Isla Capeda by Spanish explorer Lieutenant Francisco de Eliza.
The official first settler to land in Delta was none other than James Kennedy.
It was in 1868 that Thomas and William Ladner began farming the area named after them. It was both fishing and farming that really led to the increase in population for the small community over the next 20-30 years.
Finally in 1879, the area was incorporated to officially become known as Delta and the community of Ladner was named and made as its administrative hub.
As one can imagine, the layout and location of Delta made it hard to get to. This left the community isolated.
Thanks to the ferries, the highways, the tunnel, to name a few, Delta finally sprouted and grew an incredible 400% in terms of population.
Not to be out done, the Alex Fraser Bridge connecting North Delta to New Westminster and Vancouver in 1986 also helped Delta’s population grow.
Currently, Delta’s population sits around 130,000 residents.
